Watermelon is probably one of my summer highlights. Is it embarrassing to admit I actually did a little happy dance in the grocery store when I saw the first ones this year? Yeah… well…

Watermelon Basil Cooler. A cool, refreshing summer drink that takes 10 minutes to make!

To me, eating cold, ripe watermelon first thing in the morning on a hot day is nothing short of bliss. I’m not much of a morning person, so waking up to something crunchy, sweet and hydrating helps me feel a little bit more ready for the day.

This simple, watermelon and basil cooler is a cool, refreshing summer drink that kids and adults alike will love. The herbs add another dimension to the watermelon’s flavour, complimenting it beautifully – but if you don’t like them, just leave them out.

This whole drink comes together in about 5 minutes, so you can spend plenty of time outside sipping on it with your friends and family.

  • 1 Watermelon
  • 5-6 Fresh Basil Leaves
  • 3-4 Fresh Mint Leaves
  • Juice of half a lime

  • 5-6 Fresh Basil Leaves
  • 3-4 Fresh Mint Leaves
  • Juice of half a lime
Watermelon Basil Cooler. A cool, refreshing summer drink that takes 10 minutes to make!
Instructions
  1. Chop the watermelon and remove any seeds. Chop and place into a blender with the basil and mint leaves.
  2. Taste and add more herbs if you’d like to.
  3. Serve cold over ice. Store in an airtight glass container in the fridge for 1-2 days. Best consumed immediately.
